And Then There was Solid Food...

Evelyn has been eating baby food for about two months now, so we decided to let her try some baby rice cakes.  I had bought these banana flavored cakes before we knew how much she disliked banana, so we weren't sure what she would think.  I think she liked the idea of holding something and chewing on it, but she didn't understand the concept of actually eating it.  More ended up on melted on her hands and cheeks than in her belly :)  I have to admit, it was so cute to see little baby teeth marks when she took a bite!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa Field!

We celebrated Mr. Field's birthday today, a little early, but we wanted to spend more time relaxing and enjoying the day.  We went over to the Field's house for an early dinner and had fun watching Evelyn "help" Grandpa open up his presents.  I think it was a preview of how fun Christmas will be this year with Evelyn opening her gifts.  She may not understand what the gift actually is, but she sure loves to play with paper!  Happy Birthday, Grandpa Field!!  We love you and hope you had a wonderful day!

Splish Splash She was Taking a Bath!

Splish Splash doesn't begin to describe bath time these days!  I think that we end up more drenched outside of the tub than Evelyn.  She has figured out that her hands and feet can move at the same time, which makes more noise and more splashes.  She has also decided that it's fun to go from sitting in the tub straight to her belly to dunk her face in the water, and she has decided that bubbles taste good!  Due to all of this water fun, Chris and I decided to sign her up for swim lesson in December.  The HealthPlex has a warm pool for babies, so it should be a perfect winter activity for us!

Buckhanan Wedding Festivities!

This past weekend, Chris and I joined my parents, neighbors, and high school friends celebrate as my long-time grade school and high school friend, Matt, got married to his now wife, Carrie.  It was a beautiful mass at St. Rose church followed by a reception at the 21st Century in Oakley.  We had such a great time catching up with friends and celebrating with Matt and Carrie.  Congratulations, and here's to a lifetime of love and happiness!

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!

The song may be different than what many of us remember in the 80s and 90s, but the new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show on Disney Junior is just as addicting to kids today than it was for us when we were little.  This is by far Evelyn's favorite show.  She won't pay much attention to anything else on TV unless this or Doc McStuffins is on.  I had to capture her favorite part of the show: The Hot Dog Dance!

Enjoying a Fall Afternoon

Evelyn and I took a walk on a gorgeous Friday afternoon.  On the way home we stopped in front of our neighbor's house to admire all of the pretty leaves in his front yard.  It was so nice outside that I took Evelyn out of the stroller to play in the leaves.  She seemed to like it as long as she was able to hold one in her hand.  She is at the stage where everything goes into her mouth, and leaves are no exception!

Happy Birthday, Chris!

How birthdays have changed.....just last year we celebrated Chris's birthday by having a huge party, but this year he opted for something small with just the three of us.  Evelyn and I surprised him by coming up to Kroger to visit him and make an announcement over the PA system about his big day!  Evelyn then rode in the cart waving a balloon in the air for him!
Later that day we had dinner together, Chris opened his birthday presents.  It was a lot of fun to watch Evelyn play with the wrapping paper and tissue paper.  Happy Birthday Chris!  Your girls love you so very much!

Evelyn helped Chris open up a picture frame with a picture of the two of them.
Evelyn enjoyed playing in a box while Chris opened up a stepping stone with her footprints in it.
