Uncle Alex Visits!

Alex came in town this weekend to go to our cousin's wedding, but he came home a few days early so he could see his nieces and nephew and hang out with our family.  We had a really great time going to the Koto Hibachi Grill, The Yard House, the Banks Downtown, and the new Horseshoe Casino!  Almost all of us came back as winners that night, which made it even more fun!  We love having Alex home and are really looking forward to his week visit for Thanksgiving!

After dinner at the Yard House on Friday we walked around the Banks, and Alex showed us the new phases to expect for the project!

Lunkin Park

We took advantage of Chris's day off work and went to Lunkin Playfield to let Evelyn try the swings.  We knew she liked to bounce around in her jumper, but she may have enjoyed swinging just as much or even a little more.  It was precious to see the smile on her face and hear her little giggles :)

 

After the swings, Chris took her down the baby slide for the first time.  Despite her lack of neck control on the way down, she did really great!  We can't wait to spend time at the park next summer!

Food in Action!

Over the past two weeks Evelyn has been trying new foods.  We started with cereal for a week then moved on to green beans.  She wasn't the biggest fan of green beans and decided she would rather practice raspberries while eating them.  This quickly turned into a game for her, and she decided to veto all food and enjoy giving raspberries instead.  Needless to say, we have stopped giving her raspberries throughout the rest of the day in order to try to nix this habit!  We thought if we tried a sweeter vegetable she would change her mind so we tried sweet potatoes next.  Our idea failed as each day she continues to spit the moved into our faces, literally.  Below are some videos of each food we have tried so far!  We won't be moving on from these three until she can eat without spitting it!

Aunt Katie let us borrow a jumper to put in the doorway, and Evelyn has been having lots of fun jumping all around.  Although she's not Irish, being born in March so close to St. Patrick's Day made the following ok....

Evelyn slept 11.5 hours last night, and it definitely shows!  She was all smiles while playing this morning :)

Here's Looking at You!

We've had some nice fall weather lately so Chris and I decided to take Evelyn to the zoo again.  It was a quiet morning at the zoo, which made it nice to walk around and enjoy some of the exhibits that we haven't seen this year.  So far, Evelyn has slept through most of the zoo visits over the summer, but to our surprise, this time she was able to watch the animals as they walked around in their exhibits.  The bears were especially active, and Evelyn watched as they stood up and walked around.  It was so fun to see her taking interest in the zoo and makes us look forward to our visits next summer!

Chris and I have been so excited to start feeding Evelyn solid foods.  We noticed that whenever we ate something in front of her she would watch us scoop up the food and bring it to our mouths.  It was fun watching her curiosity to food, but it has been even more fun introducing her to cereal!  Below are some pictures of her first two times trying rice cereal.  Bon Appetit!!
