We celebrated an entire week of Thanksgiving and family fun this year. It started on Tuesday when Alex and his girlfriend, Amanda, came in town from Boston. It was nice to have him in town for such a long time, so we weren't trying to cram in so much in just a few days. On Thanksgiving, we went to my Grandma Koumoutsos' house and enjoyed lunch with her and my dad's side of the family. After lunch, we celebrated the November birthdays, which included Chris! Following dessert we went to the Chris's side of the family for Thanksgiving dinner. It was such a wonderful day with family that reminded us of all that we have to be thankful for in our daily lives.
Evelyn was diagnosed with Pink Eye the day before Thanksgiving, so she has a little red eye in her Thanksgiving Day pictures.
With Alex in town we tried to celebrate Christmas as well because he will not be coming in town for Christmas this year. The entire family headed downtown to the Aronoff to see The Grinch! It was so fun to see all of us take up so much of the row at the theater! Evelyn made it through about 30 minutes of the show before I stepped out with her and watched the rest of the play on the TV screen in the lobby. The Grinch is such a great part of the Christmas holiday, and the play was so great!
After the play we walked to Fountain
Square to see the ice skating and Christmas tree. The square was so
alive with people everywhere and several local vendors selling Christmas
Ale, roasted almonds, popcorn and hot chocolate! While watching the
skaters, Liliana pointed out the carriage rides and wanted to go see the
horses. Before we knew it, all of us were piled into two carriages and
took a 30 minute ride through the city. After the ride, we headed back
and all took naps!
Meeting a horse for the first time. She loved watching them!
Since Alex won't be home for Christmas, we decided to put our tree up so
he could be part of the decorating. We had dinner and all put up the
tree. Shortly after, my dad as well as all of the men on my mom's side
of the family met at my parents' house to go Christmas shopping. This
has been a tradition that my mom's dad started many years ago. The men
go out to eat, shop for a little bit, then end up playing pool
together. I always think it's so special that Chris is a part of this
tradition, and each year he comes back talking about what a fun time he
had.
Someone was worn out after the busy morning!
Evelyn met some new cousins, cousin Scott and cousin Eric! The three little ones enjoying a night together :)
