Evelyn's Baptism
Today was a really special day for Evelyn and our family. Evelyn was baptized into the Catholic church at Guardian Angels Parish. Chris and I have been attending Guardian Angels for quite sometime, and we recently became members. We really like our church and the parishioners and are very excited to watch Evelyn grow and become an active member of our faith.
We celebrated her big day by going to 10:00 mass. After mass we came home and began to get her ready for her big moment. Evelyn wore a baptism gown that has been in our family for 100 years! It was worn by most of our family members and was exciting for us that Evelyn could wear it on its 100th year! Both sides of our family met at Guardian Angels at 1:00, and Evelyn was baptized by Father King at 1:30. Evelyn was joined on the alter by Chris and I as well as my sister, Katie, as her Godmother and Chris's brother, Greg, as her Godfather. She did very well during the private ceremony and only whimpered and wiggled a little while Father poured the baptismal water on her forehead.

Following her ceremony we took pictures with Father King and with
members of the family. We then headed back to our house for a nice
lunch honoring Evelyn.
During her party, Evelyn wore Chris's baptism gown. It was really special for us for her to wear a baptism gown from both sides of our families. She looked so beautiful. We want to thank all of our family for sharing in this special day for Evelyn as she was welcomed into our church. We feel so blessed to have such wonderful families that will be active participants in Evelyn's faith journey.Saturday, April 27, 2013
Newport, KY HeartChase
This year I participated in the Newport HeartChase with friends. The HeartChase is an event hosted by the American Heart Association to help promote healthy lifetsyles and a healthy heart. The event is described as Minute to Win It meets The Amazing Race. Each team participates in fun activities and challenges. In addition to the events, we also were able to watch as the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest plank hold was broken! An over 3 hours plank hold broke the record, amazing!! Evelyn and I were on a team with Emily and Molly, and although we didn't participate to win the event, we had a fantastic day!
Tooth brush game where teams had to carry a toothbrush on the bill of a hat from my cup to another!

Making fruit smoothies on a spinning bike! Evelyn and I at the bowling alley for another event!

Happy Birthday Carter
This year Carter had a new party guest at his birthday. Evelyn helped Chris and I celebrate Carter's 7th birthday by giving him a vanilla cupcake with red sprinkles. For those of you that have met Carter you can understand how apprehensive Chris and I were for Carter to meet his new baby sister. To our surprise, he has been nothing short of a wonderful "big brother." He is constantly smelling her, lying by her, and now that her hands are always in her mouth, licking her hands (no worries, we are always washing her hands). Below are some pictures of precious moments that we have caught of Carter hanging out with Evelyn. Happy 7th birthday Carter; we love you, Buddy!
